Compostable Seedling Mark Certification

‧ The Certification Label for Compostable Plastics/Material - Seedling Mark

‧ Products printed with the label must pass EN13432 or EN14995 laboratory tests.

  Such as:Materials (Raw Material or Polymer), Semi-finished Products, Finished Products.

‧ Seedling Mark already has a certain degree of credibility worldwide currently,

  Originated in the EU region (Belgium, Switzerland, Netherlands, Germany, UK, France...etc.)

‧ Products must meet the requirements of the applications tested verified by 

  an independent third-party inspection unit.

. Manufacturers can print the Seedling Mark label and serial number on the product

  to help consumers identify, when purchasing and processing.

Biodegradable / Compostable Products (Raw Material, Polymer, Semi-finished Products, Finished Products)

 

Specification Content:

 

It is necessary to prove its compostability by the EU standard: EN 13432 or EN 14995, before obtaining the mark.

Products using Compostable Seedling Mark are approved for compost in composting sites, according to the results of international and EU uniform standards.

The above two products standards can meet specifications of biodegradable/compostable following as below:

 

1. EN 13432:2000 (Packaging):

Products and other parts of the stuff must be biodegradable/compostable, not only the products themselves.

Ex:Dye, Label, Adhesive, Residue... etc.

‧  Packaging recycling must pass the compostable/biodegradable test requirements.

‧  The packaging experiment needs to pass the test project and professional evaluation standards.

‧  Conforms to the 《European Packaging Waste Directive》- 94/62/EC,

   and the requirements of the relevant European unified standards, translated and implemented in EU member countries.

 

2. EN 14995:2000 (Non-packaging):

According to the European unified standards and relevant international inspection, this standard using on non-packaging.

Verification standards are almost basically similar to EN 13432:2000 specifications.

‧  Evaluate the compostability of its products by international regulations.

‧  One of the specification method testing standard (EN 13432 vs EN 14995).

‧  This condition adapt to other plastic/material products (non-packaging). 

   If it is dedicated to packaging, please refer to EN 13432.
